Joined P.L. Ferrari in 1980 from the offshore construction industry where he was an offshore projects superintendent. Previously he had been deck officer on Italian merchant ships and on Italian Navy ships. He started his insurance broking career joining P.L. Ferrari & Co first as a P&I Claim handler, moving then to P&I insurance broking and then becoming a partner and, since 1994, the Managing Director & CEO of P.L. Ferrari & Co. He is an authorised insurance broker
